News Flash!!!!!!!

* Congratulations to Mr Colin for passing his blackbelt on October 2nd 2011. Mr Colin joined the club on the very first day it opened and worked enthusiastically and very hard towards this outstanding achievement. As my first club blackbelt I am very proud of him. The grading took place at Salisbury Gym and Mr Colin was examined by 3 experienced martial artists. The grading included technical work, pad work and sparring in the ring, including 2 against 1. Mr Colin is a true ambassador of the art and fully deserves the grade awarded.

* JB is now a published author of a sci-fi/fantasy novel available at:

Competition news...

18th September 2011

Well done to Mr Colin, Mr Sam, Miss U and Mr Tommy for taking part in Master Deedigan's tournament. Good fighting and spirit shown and even some medals won :-)

19th September 2010

Mr Andre, Mr Colin and Mr Darren all took part in Master Deedigan's Trowbridge tournament for TaeKwon-Do and Kickboxing. Although no medals were won by the lads they all showed good spirit and did their Instructor proud. Well done to all for entering and for showing good courtesty and sporting spirit.

October 25th 2009

Well now, what can I say about the competition and the way Mr Darren and Mr Andre fought except that I am a very proud Instructor.

Mr Andre was paired, it turned out, against a black belt TaeKwon-Do student who also studies kickboxing and he was an experienced fighter.  Mr Andre was in his third fight and is an orange belt but he put up a very brave, enthusiastic and excellent performance.  It is the best I have seen him fight and although he was not 'quite' as pretty after the match as when he started - big strong lads - he told me he really enjoyed the sparring :-)

Mr Darren was also put against someone with much greater experience. His match was against someone who apparently only last week took part in a ten round fullcontact match and has often fought at higher levels. On top of this he was far taller with extra reach, a massive advantage. Again, Mr Darren showed skill and courage, moving quickly to get in and out of the action and to counter the long arms and legs. The performance showed how much he has learned since his first fight and was very encouraging.

Both Mr Darren and Mr Andre received praise from other instructors on how they fought, and as their trainer I can't ask for more :-)

September 27th 2009

Well done to the JBKB squad for their efforts at Master Deedigan's Schools first local tournament.  Mr Colin achieved a bronze medal in the men's heavy weight in his first competition and Mr Darren got Silver, both showing great control in the ring.  Mr Chris in his first competition achieved a silver medal in the men's light weight division and Mr Andre won bronze, again both showed sportmanship and control.

JB also came away with a couple of decent medals in TaeKwon-do and a silver in the ladies' mixed weight kickboxing.

Congratulations to everyone that took part, and to the spectators for their support, but especially to the organisers and senior grades that gave their time to make the day successful and a lot of fun.
