Fight Yourself Fit

Kickboxing is a dynamic and highly effective method of self-defence that first appeared in the USA in the mid 1970's.  (Something good had to come out of the decade of flares, big collars and giant sideburns!!!)  It is also a great STRESS buster. Kickboxing is an ecclectic Martial Art, meaning that it has taken some of the best techniques from other Martial Arts, such as Karate and TaeKwon-Do and also Boxing.  Classes include semi and full contact pad work, technical, fitness and light-contact sparring.

Why Join JB Kickboxing?

My club is small and friendly and this means that you can have more attention paid to you as an individual.  The club is also designed to suit women and men of any age and ability - there is no pressure to keep up with fitter, more experienced people - you work to your own best level.  The club also welcomes teenagers and is therefore family friendly.

The club is NOT designed for those students who are specifically looking to do full contact sparring or cage fighting. Although there is power training against pads, including knee and elbow techniques, the sparring is all light contact and no elbows, knees or sweeps are allowed - all targets are above the belt.

With JB Kickboxing the aim is to teach people a martial art and improve fitness in a safe, friendly and helpful environment, and while students are encouraged to work to their very best, their safety and confidence are high priorities.  We are NOT about being macho, so if you have always wanted to try a martial art but have been worried about a Rambo environment, then please do come along and give the club a try - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

World Wildlife Fund

JB Kickboxing recognises that producing the equipment and uniforms for the club exploits some of the world's resources and contributes to global warming.  In order to counteract some of the damage we cause in pursuit of our own interests, the club now sponsors the World Wildlife Fund and has adopted a tiger:

The female Bengal Tiger lives in Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve in Nepal.  She is one of only 350 Bengal tigers left in the wild.  The money contributed by JB Kickboxing will help monitor the tigers and help prevent poaching.

News -

There is now grave news of increased poaching and tigers are more in danger than ever with only 3,200 left in the wild throughout the whole world.  Now three tiger reserves in India are empty.  JB Kickboxing is therefore making an extra £50 contribution to WWF for their save the tiger campaign (Nov 2009).
